What’s Recyclable?

The Athens-Limestone Recycling Center is part of the Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful organization, which gives it a non-profit status.  Our center is able to accept materials that most other recycling centers will not accept because we are non-profit, and because of the support we receive from the City of Athens and Limestone County Commission.

 

What is NOT recyclable?

The Recycling Center cannot accept paint of any kind, household cleaners and chemicals, garden chemicals, medical waste including syringes and tubing. These items are considered Household Hazardous Waste.  The center also does not accept batteries of any kind, Styrofoam, molded plastic items, etc. Leaving these items at the center is considered illegal dumping and will handled as such.  Security cameras are in place. See list of what IS recyclable below.

 

What IS recyclable at the Athens-Limestone Recycling Center?

Used Cooking OilsUse free FOG Containers or any container with a secure lid.
Scrap Metals
Used Motor OilPour into collection container in front of building, or leave in a container with a secure lid.
