Recycling CFLs and Fluorescent Tubes

The Athens-Limestone Recycling Center DOES NOT accept these items, but there are places locally that do.

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs)

CFL bulbs, the curly new light bulbs, can be taken to any Lowe’s store for recycling.  In Athens, the collection bin is in the return area just inside the main doors.

These bulbs come in different lengths and sizes.  Recycling them keeps dangerous substances out of the environment.  Batteries + Bulbs stores will take fluorescent tubes for recycling.  If you don’t purchase replacement bulbs from their store, there is a small disposal fee.  Check with the store closest to you for details.
