Many people aren’t sure if some of the items they want to recycle are considered electronics. To clarify, electronics accepted at the Athens-Limestone Recycling Center include anything that runs on electricity or batteries, or anything that connects to those items.
Does That Include…
Microwaves? Yes! Computer monitors? Yes! 8-Track cassette player? Yes, and if you have one, you’ve been hanging on to that way too long! If you are unsure, you can call the center at 256-233-8746.
Is There a Charge?
Currently the only item we charge for is televisions of any size, shape or age.
Electronics should be brought during business hours. If you need help unloading your items, just stop in the office and help will be provided.
Electronic items contain components that may be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly. Recycling electronics allows for the metals and some of the plastics in them to be harvested and used again in new products. This saves the energy and effort involved in mining virgin materials, saves landfill space, and protects the environment.
The Athens-Limestone Recycling Center uses companies that are proven to be environmentally responsible. So bring your electronics to us and feel good that the items will be handled properly.
