2018 Duck Decorating Contest

All businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in KALB’s 2nd Annual Quacky Duck Decorating Contest to support KALB.  There is no up front cost to participate.  We want the money you spend to go into the duck decorations and attachments to make it valuable.  Need ideas?  Check out this video of last year’s entries:

This duck deserves a proper place in the home or business of a serious Bama fan! Christa Clem loves to decorate items and really LOVES her football team!













DUCK #4 – Limestone County DHR

Grinch Duck was decorated by Limestone County DHR.  There is currently nothing additional attached to the duck…but that might change!  What a great addition this would make to your Christmas decorations!











DUCK #5 – Athens Ladies Civitan Club

This Civitan duck was inspired by the Civitan belief in service.  This duck serves to inspire you to purchase raffle tickets to support KALB and includes the following:  gift certificate for two tickets to the 2018 Holiday Tour of Homes on 12/8 ($40 value); gift certificate to Catfish Cabin ($25 value); Gift Certificate to Class Act Salon – Shellac Mainicure ($30 value) and shampoo, cut, and style ($40 value); Civitan pin, cross ornament, American flag, candle, notepad, and plaid throw blanket.














DUCK #6 – American Leakless Co.

Yoshi Duck was decorated by Tina Finley, Plant Controller at American Leakless Co.  There are $250 in gift cards to Game Stop attached to this duck!  I’d say it’s time to play the game and buy some raffle tickets!















DUCK #7 – Girl Scout Troop 1922

Daisy duck is decorated to celebrate earning her most recent merit badge. Daisy Duck comes with 1 case of Girl Scout Cookies – 12 boxes!  You can mix and match flavors.  You will have to be patient as the cookies will be available to you when Girl Scout Cookie season begins.















DUCK #8 – First Methodist Church

This beautiful church duck comes decorated with the Faith, Hope and Love bells, a First Methodist Church Bicentennial ornament, a beautiful copy of the Holy Bible and a lovely decorative plate.















DUCK #9 – Nip and Tuck Florist

This precious lady duck is a representation of 1818 fashion on one side and 2018 fashion on the other side.  This tres chic duck comes with an old fashioned tea towel and home fragrance items.  The duck and attachments can be seen at Nip and Tuck Florist on Hwy. 72 in Athens where raffle tickets can be purchased.















DUCK #10 – Athens Arts League

This beautiful stained glass duck was created by stained glass artist Denise Maurer and can be seen on display at High Cotton Arts in Athens.  This piece of art is worthy of your raffle ticket purchases as is; however, keep watching to see if something is added!














DUCK #11 – City of Athens

Descendant of the American Pekin breed of ducks that inhabited the original water source, now known as the Duck Pond at Big Spring Memorial Park, when partners John Carriel and Robert Beaty bought the site that would became the City of Athens.  Athens became a city on Nov. 19, 1818, before Alabama became a state.  Mr. Beakster is decked out in his tuxedo, 200th birthday hat, and cotton boll boutonniere.  His nest of birthday gifts includes a champagne confetti popper, City of Athens bicentennial coins, City of Athens bicentennial shirt, City of Athens Christmas ornament and a proclamation from Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks proclaiming the winner an authorized Athens Bicentennial Bash Birthday Representative.














DUCK #12 – Potter’s Hand / Empty Bowls

Duck Soup features Groucho Marks and a beautiful Alabama bicentennial bowl created by members of Potter’s Hand filled with “duck soup”.  This creation is a whimsical way to remind us of the empty bowls of many in our community.














DUCK #13 – Clem Tire

This 1819 duck is trekking to Alabama or BUST and was decorated by Clem Tire.  You might notice there is a $50 gift card that goes with that duck just in case you need some new wheels for your wagon!

DUCK #16 – Athens Dixie Stitchers Quilt Guild

This precious duck is a giant pin cushion and is surrounded by lots of fabric, sewing notions, and patterns — approximately $75-$90 value.

3. Enter instructions on how you want your tickets distributed by listing each duck number and the number of tickets you want placed in that duck’s raffle jar.  You may distribute your tickets amongst multiple ducks if you wish.  Instructions must be clear.
